Fair Use Policy and DMCA Disclaimer

This site and materials made available on this site are for educational and informational purposes only.

This site and materials available may contain copyrighted material the use of which has not always been specifically authorized by the copyright owner. In accord with our nonprofit mission, we are making such material available for the public good to restore and protect the joy of youth through educational programs and positive actions in collaboration with families, schools, communities, organizations and government entities.

The “I Love U Guys” Foundation IRS 501(c)3 est. 2006 asserts this constitutes a ‘fair use’ of any such copyrighted material as provided in Section 107 of the US Copyright Law. In accordance with Title 17 U.S.C. If you wish to use copyrighted material from this site for purposes of your own that go beyond fair use, you must obtain permission from copyright owner.

Privacy Policy

Who we are

Our website address is: https://iloveuguys.org. We also have similar domains that resolve to https://iloveuguys.org. (ie http://iloveyouguys.org, http://iluvuguys.org, plus a bunch of others.)

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. (You might just want to stop here. We’re still trying to understand the “Gravatar Service” and why we even have to talk about it. WT…)

Contact forms

Content on this site may does include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may (will) collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if (whether or not) you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Cookies

If you create an account on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. (There is a qualifier here: Our software development team may not actually be skilled enough to make this work predictably.) These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you log into the system again. (There are no guarantees that we can actually pull this off predictably and repeatably. You might have to log in every-damn-time.) These cookies will last for one year from your last log in (Optimistically).

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will (try to) set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie (probably) contains no personal data and (hopefully) is discarded when you close your browser. (Here’s the deal, we use frameworks, APIs, and other things found on the INTERNET. It all worked in both “Development” and “Quality Assurance,” but the internet is a hot mess of crazy stuff that we hardly understand and actually rarely examine deeply. Good luck.)

When you log in, we will also (try to) set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days (except for the days when daylight saving time changes might be employed by either your local machine or our servers, then is 2 days, plus-minus an hour or so.), and screen options cookies last for a year (Unless it’s a leap year. Date math is just tricky). If you select “Remember Me”, your login will (might) persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, (We think) the login cookies will be removed.

Embedded content from other websites

Content on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.).

(Welcome to “Marketing” in the current internet environment. Click here to get something you want.)

Analytics

We begrudgingly use a tool called “Google Analytics” to collect information about use of this site. Google Analytics nefariously collects information such as how often users visit this site, what pages they visit when they do so, and what other sites they used prior to coming to this site. (We’re pretty sure it doesn’t end there. They’re pretty tight-lipped about it all.) We use the information we get from Google Analytics to display cool but often useless graphs and make the marketing team gleeful only to improve this site. Google Analytics collects only the IP address assigned to you on the date you visit this site, rather than your name or other identifying information (according to Google, but paint us skeptical – they are a bunch of clever rascals.) We do not combine the information collected through the use of Google Analytics with personally identifiable information. Although Google Analytics plants a permanent cookie on your web browser to identify you as a unique user the next time you visit this site, the cookie cannot be used by anyone but Google. Google’s ability to use and share information collected by Google Analytics about your visits to this site is restricted by the Google Analytics Terms of Use (as amended for government websites) and the Google Privacy Policy. You can prevent Google Analytics from recognizing you on return visits to this site by disabling cookies on your browser.

Who we share your data with

We do not disclose your data with 3rd parties other than for analytics.

How long we retain your data

If you create an account, we hope the account and its metadata are retained indefinitely or until you delete the account.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information and the naughty marketing team may see some of this information to send spam informative messages.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. (Keep in mind that we have a ton of other stuff going on and this will not be a high priority. Seven requests are our threshold of attention.) You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Some user input data may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

This is our stuff. You can use some of it. Be nice. Don’t do naughty, icky or illegal stuff.

PS: Our lawyer (Volunteer) got real grumpy about changing the Terms and Conditions. But, on reflection, they agreed that it might work if something went awry.
